Jo McLaughlin MA, LASW

Jo McLaughlin has been working in adoption for over 25 years. Over the course of the last 14 years she directed two different private nonprofit adoption agencies in the North and South communities of Nevada. Both agencies were very productive.

Jo has a Bachelor Degree in Social Work with a minor in Child Development and a Masters in Counseling. She is also a licensed social worker in the State of Nevada. Adoption has long been a passion of Jo’s with education and preparedness being two very important focuses.

Prior to working in adoption Jo worked at two local hospitals, Women’s Hospital and Lake Mead Hospital. At both of these hospitals, Jo was hired to develop, organize and implement centers where pregnant women could obtain pregnancy related services, access medical care and receive referrals, in addition to being the Maternal Child social worker for both facilities.

Jo was also instrumental in developing a housing program for women experiencing an unplanned pregnancy for Lifeline Pregnancy Center.

In her adoption work, Jo has worked with many pregnant women and couples She has a wealth of knowledge, information and experience with both birth families and adoptive families.

Jo has always had a focus of education. “The better someone is educated, the more knowledge they can obtain, the better prepared they will be for the future.” Today education is a much needed tool in ones adoption journey. Would you try to fly a plane or run a train without the proper training? Could you be an architect, doctor or attorney without the proper education? Then why would anyone venture into an adoption journey without the help of a Consultant. A consultant will have the best interest of the adoptive couple at heart. Jo will be your navigator, adviser, and cheerleader as you consider adopting. A consultant will be an unbiased support person who will be available throughout the ongoing process. As your own adoption consultant with a broad expertise, and no financial interest in your decisions, Jo can help you meet your highest priorities for building your family, relieve fears, anxiety and vulnerability, preventing headaches and heartaches in the most important journey of your life.
